Feast Day - December 12th
On December 9, 1531, at Guadalupe, Mexico, the Virgin Mary appeared to Juan Diego and instructed him to tell the bishop to
build a temple in her honor. On December 12, 1521, Juan Diego was given a sign of roses and the figure of the Blessed Virgin Mary was impressed on the inside of
his cloak to show the bishop. A magnificent basilica was built in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe. In 1945, Pope Pius X11, stated that the Virgin of Guadalupe is“Queen of Mexico and Empress of the Americas.”
