Appearing to St. Faustina on February 22, 1931, Jesus desired the feast of The Divine Mercy to be celebrated by the universal church on the first Sunday after Easter. In return, Jesus promised that the souls who go to confession within 8 days before or after Mercy Sunday, receive Holy Communion and are merciful to others through actionswords and prayers, will obtain forgiveness of their sins.
